Forrest “Butch” Freeman, Jr., has been the Oklahoma County Treasurer since December of 1993.  Born in Macomb, Missouri, he received his Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Missouri in 1965, and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Missouri in 1970.  Butch is a retired Air Force Colonel with over 23 years of professional military experience.

He is a graduate of the Air War College, Air Command and Staff College, and the Squadron’s Officer School.  His military decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Air Force Meritorious Service Medal, and the Air Force Commendation Medal.  His last Air Force assignment was as Comptroller for Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City where he was responsible for budgeting and accounting of $4-billion in annually appropriated funds.  Following his retirement from the Air Force in June, 1989, he became the Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer for Data Monitor Systems, Inc. located in Midwest City, Oklahoma.  Butch joined the Oklahoma County Treasurer’s staff later that year.

Butch is a member of the Eastern Oklahoma County Career-Tech Foundation Board, the Choctaw Industrial Development Authority, the Eastern Oklahoma County Rotary Club, and the Air Force Association.

Mr. Freeman and his wife, Bobbie, reside in Choctaw, Oklahoma.  Bobbie is a former council member and mayor of Choctaw and a charter member and past president of the Eastern Oklahoma County Rotary Club.  They have two children and six grandchildren.
